    Larry,
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy listening to your show on Saturday mornings. I look forward to my drive to work every Saturday to hear what you have playing. I'm a huge Alt-Country, Bluegrass, and Americana fan, and I love everything that you play.

I think you know my sister Casey, who works with you at Clear Channel. She's been telling me that you have great taste in music, but I've never had the chance to listen. She is absolutely right. I go to school at Florida State, and even our school's radio station (which will play basically anything) doesn't play the type of music you do. It's really rare to hear such great music in a town as small as Port Charlotte.

The one artist I haven't heard on your show is Ryan Adams, and I'm actually shocked that you don't play him. His name is usually synonomous with Alt-Country and usually follows Uncle Tupelo (or Wilco) as the essential Alt-Country musician.

So anyway, I just wanted you to know that there are actually people in this town that appreciate your show. Thanks for everything,

    Ryan Duffy

    Hi, Larry,
While googling to find stations that might be giving my CD airplay, I ran across your blog, where apparently, you are including my CD in your Americana Library giveaway package. While giving it away is certainly better than it going to waste, before you pass it along, I urge you to check it out and consider giving it airplay!!!
There are many very fine tracks on there by artists who certainly fit within the scope of what you play; including tracks from Sherry Austin, Joe Paquin, Joe Craven, and Keith Greeninger. I think many in your listening audience could appreciate hearing these songs. And I KNOW that music is a powerful tool for social change. 100% of all net proceeds from this album support Veterans for Peace. Giving the CD away to one person is cool, but playing it for many many listeners would be even cooler. You can spread the word, and help make a difference!
I would be happy to give you a CD to give away if you choose, but before you so hastily pass along the one you have been given, please listen carefully and see if there isn't a track that will work for your show and your audience.
Here are some notes on the tracks to help guide you:

TAKE ME HOME – a sampler of American Artists for Peace

    Track notes

    1. Dennis McGregor – Caught in Your War
    www.dennismcgregor.com
    folk/pop
Winner of the Sisters Folk Festival Songwriting Contest

Insightful, witty, topical lyrics whose satirical bite is offset by a bouncy pop/folk tune, and Dennis’ optimism

    2. Joe Paquin – Pray for Peace
    www.joepaquin.com
    Folk
Formerly a founding member of the Sunddogs

Joe’s saga of a heart weary Vietnam Vet rings true – the chorus says it all – “The way it is is the way it was back then, the way it was is the way it is again
Nothing’s changed except those boys are men
At least the ones who lived to see the way it is again.”

    3. Country Joe McDonald – Support the Troops
    www.countryjoe.com
    folk rock
Legendary folk rock icon of the 60’s, Country Joe & the Fish, “The Fish Cheer”

Country Joe has never gone away, and he sounds better than ever. Written for Cindy Sheehan, this brand new hard-hitting topical tune shows him to be in exemplary form.

    4. Tired Willie - War No More
    www.kokomomusic.com
    Folk

Not much is known about the mysterious Tired Willie, other than he and Dick Dujour have never been seen together at the same time in the same place.
Willie creates a chant for Everyman.

    5. Sherry Austin – Don’t Lie to Me
    www.sherry-austin.com
    Country folk
    Santa Cruz based singer/songwiter

Fine musicianship perks along in a bouncy, upbeat tempo while lyrics convey the frustrations of an “ordinary person” confronted with extraordinary circumstances

    6. Joe Craven – Setting Son
    www.joecraven.com
    Roots/folk/rock
Multi-talented multi-instrumentalist who spent 17 years as a member of the David Grisman Quartet

Joe usually interprets traditional material. This is the first song he’s ever written. Based on a old civil war melody, this song was created on “found sound” instruments made from army helmets and a bass fashioned out of an army jeep gas can attached to the neck of a fender bass, among other things. The lyrics provide a powerful social commentary.

    7. Bob Brozman – San Humanité
    www.bobbrozman.com

    World music/folk
    World renown multi-instrumentalist

The only instrumental on the album. Just Bob and his guitar create a moody yet soothing ambience for our troubled times.

    8. Keith Greeninger – Arsenal of Doves
    www.keithgreeninger.com
    folk/rock
    Founding member of City Folk,
Winner of the 2005 Telluride Songwriter’s Contest

Keith’s strong, uplifting lyrics are supported by his powerful, emotive voice.
A beautiful and moving song about the people who are peacemakers.

    9. Jesse Colin Young - The Peace Song
    www.jessecolinyoung.com
    Rock/folk
Another legendary icon. The Youngblood’s “Get Together” was the anthem of a generation.

This gorgeous song, originally released in 1969, is, unfortunately, even more relevant now than when it was written. A classic performance, digitally remastered.

    10. Lisa Atkinson – You Can Dance
    www.atkinsonkincheloeband.com
    A Capella folk
    Award-winning children’s artist

Lisa created this song as a rhythm exercise for the San Jose Peace Chorale. Pete Seeger loves it! A positive affirmative for peace.

    11. Scott McClatchy – A Little Irish Grace
    www.scottm.com
    folk/rock
NYC based songwriter/guitarist formerly of the Del Lords, also plays with Dion Dimucci

On the surface, it’s a simple, pretty love song with a lovely melody.
Confused, heartsick and weary, the protagonist is giving hope and made whole by love.

    12. Jim Stringer - The Last War
    www.musicroom.org
    Folk/country
Austin-based singer/songwriter well known for his session work and as a producer

A spoken word narrative over an engaging instrumental bed provides a post-apocalyptic tale of a distant time with a world at peace

    13. Geoffrey Rutledge – Take Me Home
    www.geoffreyrutledge.net
    Folk/Pop
    Award-winning singer/songwriter, Kerrville favorite

The title track features Geoffrey’s pure, strong vocal soaring over stark piano chords. A heartwrenching message from a soldier to his mother.

Also, don’t miss the very special accompanying video, viewable on any MAC or PC.

A lot of people put a lot of time and energy into this disc. We appreciate you taking the time to check it out.
    with sincere thanks,
    Arden Eaton, producer,
